The Great FakesbyVolume One

How the game works

You're playing as

Your nom de plume for the table.

  1. 1 · Read up. You'll see a real book, its synopsis, and a bit about the author. Write a fake opening or closing line in their voice. The goal is to fool the table.
  2. 2 · Pick the real line. All the fakes and the real line appear together, anonymously. Pick the one you think the author actually wrote.
  3. 3 · The reveal. See who fooled whom, plus the real line from the book.

Level I+3 ea.+1
Level II+2 ea.+3
Level III+1 ea.+5

Well-known books (Level I) are hard to fake and easy to spot, so faking pays big and picking pays a little. Obscure books (Level III) flip it: faking is easy, spotting the real line is the hard part, and it pays the most. Submit early to earn bonus trivia (+1 each) while the rest of the table finishes. Stick around for all three rounds to bank your score. Drift off between rounds and you're out.
